We are honored to welcome back Nancy Singleton Hachisu for a cooking demonstration and lunch prepared as a special sneak preview from her new cookbook, Japan: The Cookbook, an elegant, vegetable-centric journey into food from the 70s and 80s bubble-era of Japan, coming April 2018 from Phaidon Press.
Japan: The Cookbook is an elegant, vegetable-centric journey into food from the 70s and 80s bubble-era of Japan. Nancy will be joining us for a two-day workshop to explore and teach the food of Japan. On Wednesday morning, gather in our gardens with Nancy to find vegetables and other special things to create the menu for the cooking class. After exploring, enjoy drinks and light appetizers at our historic inn. On Thursday, join Nancy in our kitchen for a cooking class using the harvest from the garden walk. An intimate lunch will follow in our historic La Quinta Ballroom.

Nancy Singleton Hachisu moved to Japan in 1988 to learn Japanese. She fell in love with a farmer, the culture and the food, and has made Japan her home. She has been a Slow Food convivial leader for more than a decade, and a food-education leader for Slow Food Japan for several years. Nancy lives in an 85-year-old traditional farmhouse on an organic farm in rural Japan with her husband and three sons.
